Life at ILA

Become a teacher at ILA – Be greater, be an ILA-er

Career path

Many members of our Teaching and Learning Management team were previously ILA teachers and have received support and training to take on new roles following overwhelming success in their previous positions. With gained experience, teachers can apply for Senior Teacher roles, or positions in our Product Development, Marketing, HR, or Teacher Training team. The possibilities are endless.

Young Learners Training

Teaching Young Learners (YLs) is an essential part of life at ILA; however, many teachers feel nervous teaching in a YL classroom. To give our teachers the skills and confidence they require, ILA gives all new full-time teachers a 1-week training course specifically tailored to teaching young learners. Based on the now phased out CELT-YL, our training course delivers practical and useful advice to ensure our teachers are confident and successful in the classroom.

This course is provided for free by ILA, and teachers are paid a supplement after successfully completing it and starting a full-time contract.

Workshops

Workshops are offered each month and cover a broad range of topics relevant to ESL teaching, encompassing Classroom Management, teaching methodology, practical activities and new theories in ESL. Teachers can also suggest workshop topics on areas they feel would be useful to them. Each of our language centres offers at least 1 workshop per month. These sessions cover aspects of core teaching practice, language, and 21st-century learning methodologies. Teachers can attend workshops at any centre, so there’s always a wide range of choice.

What is the ILA Community Network?

What is the
ILA Community Network?

Established in 2005, ILA Community Network (ILACN) is ILA Vietnam’s philanthropic arm. Our mission is to support disadvantaged children access education in and around the communities in which ILA operates across Vietnam.

All operating costs of the ILACN are covered by ILA Vietnam so that 100% of every contribution received goes to supporting ILACN’s mission. Today, ILA Vietnam, through our ILACN arm, continues to be the leading language school in providing sustainable charitable programmes in Vietnam.

Our NGO partners

Our NGO partners operate at numerous locations across Vietnam to help disadvantaged children access education & other necessities.
We are in partnership with: Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation, SOS Children’s Villages Vietnam, Saigon Children’s Charity (SCC), Xuan, Little Rose Warm Shelter, Green Bamboo Warm Shelter, Bung Sang Blind Shelter, Go Vap Orphanage, Centre for Social Protection of Vung Tau Children, and Pacific Links Foundation.

Our programmes

State School
Sponsorship Programme

Each year, the ILACN sponsors numerous disadvantaged children to attend state schools - ranging from elementary schools to state universities. We work with our NGO partners, who utilise their skills and expertise to assist us in allocating the sponsorships to the children.

English Scholarship Programme

The English Scholarship Programme provides full (100%) scholarships for disadvantaged children so that they can study English at ILA at no cost. The disadvantaged children who benefit from the programme are chosen by our NGO partners.

Working with NGOs Programme

The ILACN provides classes at shelters to help the children there have access to education. The classes are run by dedicated volunteer teachers working at ILA. Each of the classes we provide is up to ILA’s standard.

Our funding

Fundraising Events

The ILACN holds a variety of fundraising events for the staff, parents and students to gather resources needed for its mission - making education more accessible to children across Vietnam.

Sponsors

Sponsorships are provided by the staff at ILA centres through their joint efforts to financially support children to attend state schools. ILA staff members can also sponsor children to go to school by themselves.

ILA

Each year, ILA allocates a budget dedicated to supporting its corporate social responsibility activities organised by the ILACN. The funds are used to operate fundraising events or as direct donations to our NGO partners.
