Rach Gia City

Rach Gia is a small city in Kien Giang province which is in the South of Vietnam. A flight to Rach Gia takes only 1 hour from Ho Chi Minh City whereas the bus, whilst a cheaper option, takes 5-6 hours.

Rach Gia is a great base from which to explore the islands just offshore. One of the best is Phu Quoc Island, which is renowned as one of the most popular destinations in Vietnam. Phu Quoc is 2 hours away from Rach Gia by ferry, and closer by air. In addition to Phu Quoc, gorgeous and undeveloped Nam Du island is also a great place to visit. Nam Du carefully controls the number of visitors, so is able to actively preserve the local flora and fauna.

Rach Gia is, in general, peaceful and quiet but still with enough entertainment and activities to keep you busy during downtime.
